BACKGROUND/背景
Considerable excitement and trepidation have surrounded the adventof the global development of the data protection laws. As the global economyshifts further into a connected information space, the relevance of dataprotection and the need for controlling privacy will further increase.
One of the examples is the popular social media app, Tiktok, ownedby Beijing-based Bytedance, is under increasing scrutiny in overseas markets.Especially in the United States and India, it has become a lightning rod indisputes among global powers as the data protection is now a pre-eminent aspectof state security concerns.
On the other hand, the need for personal privacy is a congenitalattribute of human beings. That is why the right to privacy is considered afundamental human right in the various incarnations of that class of rights indifferent jurisdictions.
Thus, the Swiss Chinese Law Association (SCLA) is honored to held its8th SCLA Global Online Forum-Data Protection Global Forum.
